Cosplay is: Freedom by Sabriel-chan Cosplay is: Freedom by Sabriel-chan
Character: Raito Sakamaki
Series: Diabolik Lovers

So this is for a contest

I've always been painfully shy. I've also always had issues with my body. I've never been pretty enough, skinny enough...In short I just hated myself. As a teen I was anorexic at one point and had more suicide attempts than you can shake a stick at. I have some permanent scars on my wrists and arms from my putting a knife to it. In short, I was not happy with myself or my life. I got into cosplay very late, as an adult. Since getting into cosplay, I feel a little more at ease with myself and who I am. I can explore myself and who I'd like to be, what styles I like. I can be someone completely different from myself and learn from it. I have also met some people who I wouldn't trade the world for. Not only are they insanely talented, but they accept me for me. With them I don't have to be anything but myself, and if I lose myself they'll help me to re-define who I am. If I had never started "dressing up" I feel like I would have missed out in some of the best moments in my life. In a way I can say that cosplaying has saved my life as I eat more balanced meals now and have not self harmed since starting to cosplay. Life always seems a bit brighter when I'm working on cosplay or out at an event.

That it is :-)
It certainly is very freeing both in artistic expression and most of the interaction I've had in the community.

xD Haha I'm older than you~~ I'm 28.

Thanks. In part my health is what keeps me from working out properly although I do swim. It's a little hard to do much more than walking and swimming when you're not supposed to lift over 10 pounds, not allowed to run or do anything strenuous especially if it affects the stomach area. Someday...Somehow xD It's starting, but that's mostly because of my illness. I can't wait to be allowed to work on my trouble spots (mainly my belly and hips) but until the doctors give me the go ahead that's impossible.

xD Haha thanks.

That's actually older than I usually get. In person people guess from 16-19...and I get asked by nosy older women why I'm cutting class >.>
